Award winning malware detection offered to Windows Defender ATP users

Bitdefender, a leading global cybersecurity technology company protecting 500 million users worldwide, today announced a collaboration with Microsoft Corp. to provide security for enterprises seeking additional threat protection for its Mac devices and Linux endpoints.

Working closely with Microsoft, Bitdefender has integrated its award-winning endpoint security solutions for Mac and Linux with Microsoft’s Windows Defender ATP management console. The integration, now in preview, enables Microsoft enterprise customers to manage cyber threats to all their devices through one console. “We are delighted to have this opportunity to work with Microsoft and be one of their ‘go-to’ partners for Windows Defender ATP customers needing to protect Mac and Linux devices,” said Vince Schiavo, Bitdefender’s SVP of Worldwide Enterprise Sales and Marketing. “Our engineers did a marvelous job of integrating our two products so that Microsoft customers can enjoy a seamless management interface to oversee security not just for their massive Windows endpoint deployments, but their Mac and Linux endpoints as well.”

Bitdefender was selected for this alliance due to its long-standing reputation for having the highest malware detection efficacy and fewest false positives for Mac and Linux endpoints. This joint effort will mean Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection (WDATP) users can help ensure all computers, devices and endpoints are further protected against a full spectrum of cyber threats.

“Bitdefender now enables Windows Defender ATP customers to extend their ATP service to non-Windows endpoints by leveraging Bitdefender’s anti-malware complete advanced threat defense solution,” said Moti Gindi, General Manager Windows Cyber Defense, Microsoft. “This provides Sec-ops holistic protection and visibility across their Windows and non-Windows endpoints and ensures they can quickly and accurately detect, investigate and responds to attacks across their entire install base.”

The integration of Bitdefender’s GravityZone Cloud and Windows Defender ATP enables customers to view comprehensive threat intelligence information on malware and suspicious file detections such as the threat type and threat category as well as pertinent details like the file hash, file path, OS and IP information of the asset and the logged-in user.
